Since 2010, he has been the founding Executive Director of the Armix Foundation. He has also served as Deputy Director of the Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises (UATE) and as the Founder and Executive Director of the Union of Operators of Armenia.
In addition to his role at RIPE NCC, he is the President of the Dutch Alumni Association of Armenia, Vice Chair of the Internet Society Internet of Things Special Interest Group (IoT SIG), and a member of the Board of the Internet Society Armenia Chapter.
Tigran Zargaryan is a member of the Internet Society Armenia Chapter. Within the organization, he coordinates the “Digital Development of Libraries: Internet Access Centers in Communities” program.
He was one of the founding members of the Internet Users Union of Armenia NGO and has also served as a member of its Board. He is actively involved in open-source software communities and initiatives.
His professional expertise includes the digitization of libraries and archives, the development of digital libraries, and the management of information systems. He has contributed to the design and implementation of Armenia’s automated library network.
Since 2008, he has headed the Department of Library Science and Information Resources at the International Scientific-Educational Center of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia.
He served as Director of the National Library of Armenia from 2006 to 2011 and as Director of the Fundamental Scientific Library of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia from 2011 to 2019. He currently serves as the Library’s Scientific Director.
From 2007 to 2009, he coordinated the international eIFL-FOSS program and led several international scientific projects.
He served as Chair of the Board of Wikimedia Armenia from 2021 to 2022 and is currently a member of the Board of the Armenian Library Association.
In 1987, he was awarded the degree of Candidate of Technical Sciences (PhD equivalent) by the Academic Council of the Moscow State Historical and Archival Institute.
He is the author of one monograph, six books, methodological manuals, and numerous scientific articles focusing on the methodology of digital library development, digital library management, and the history of Armenian books.
