The “Internet Society Armenia Chapter” PO has been implementing various digital management and technical modernization programs in libraries across Armenia’s regions for several years.
The results of these programs are already evident in 30 libraries in the Lori and Kotayk regions, showing significant improvements in service quality, operational efficiency, and visitor numbers. These libraries have received:
- Computers
- Wi-Fi routers
- Six-month broadband internet access
In addition, the organization has introduced a digital management system in these libraries, organized professional training sessions for librarians, and donated books.
Over the coming year, the organization will implement the “Digital Library Development: Community Internet Access Centers” program in 15 libraries across Syunik region. The program will officially launch on October 11 in Goris.
“Access to modern and in-demand educational resources is a foundation for the country’s educational, cultural, and economic development. Our step toward achieving that is modernizing libraries and providing broadband internet access,” said Igor Mkrtumyan, President of the Internet Society Armenia Chapter PO.
Notably, after evaluating the impact of the organization’s programs in three libraries in Vanadzor and Spitak, international partners – particularly representatives of the Internet Society Foundation (ISF) – recognized the initiative as a precedent-setting example of how targeted digital development can help prevent certain social challenges.
