The recording studio at the Armenian Association of the Blind has been upgraded with new equipment

The “Internet Society Armenia Chapter” PO, with support from the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), has upgraded the recording studio at AAB “Sokrat Shahnazaryani Anvan Mshakuyti Tun” LLC. This studio is part of the Internet Center established years ago by the “Internet Society” NGO.

The studio has been used by “Menq,” an internet radio station for the visually impaired. Following the technical upgrades, the recording of radio programs and audiobooks will resume, along with the launch of new projects such as podcasts, video recordings, and more.

“The challenges faced by people with special needs have always been a priority for us. We are pleased with this collaboration, made possible through the support of the ITU. It is particularly gratifying to see the work we began years ago gain new momentum, which is vital for the community. The technical upgrades to the studio will play a significant role in enhancing the quality of life and education for individuals in Armenia with visual impairments,” stated Igor Mkrtumyan, President of the Internet Society Armenia Chapter PO.

Vahe Arzumanyan, an ICT trainer for the Armenian Association of the Blind, recently participated in a seminar organized by the ITU in Minsk for CIS countries. During the event, he presented the studio’s activity program, which received approval.

“With the necessary technical and human resources in place, we plan to produce educational podcasts for individuals with vision impairments. Another series of podcasts will focus on raising public awareness about inclusion issues and encouraging active participation. We hope this initiative will help bridge the gap between theoretical and educational materials in this field and the real-life experiences of people with vision impairments,” said Vahe Arzumanyan. He also emphasized the significance of both the internet center and the recording studio in making digital opportunities more accessible to those with vision problems.

Yura Avetisyan, Director of AAB “Sokrat Shahnazaryani Anvan Mshakuyti Tun” LLC under the Armenian Association of the Blind, also highlighted the contributions of the “Internet Society” NGO and the “Internet Society Armenia Chapter” PO. He emphasized the effectiveness of their efforts for individuals with vision impairments, stating: “Through years of continuous work, these organizations have provided us with new and modern tools, enhancing the educational and living opportunities of hundreds of people with vision impairments and, importantly, helping them realize their potential.”
