Representatives of Internet Society Chapters from across Europe gathered online on 23 June for the first 2026 Internet Society Europe Community Call, a meeting dedicated to sharing experiences, strengthening collaboration and discussing upcoming initiatives.
Representatives from the Internet Society Chapters of Switzerland, Finland, Italy, Israel, Catalonia (Spain), and Armenia presented their most successful projects and initiatives from recent months, highlighting their impact on local Internet communities. Participants also exchanged best practices on increasing member engagement, expanding volunteer networks and implementing community-driven initiatives more effectively.
“The Internet Society Europe community is not only a platform for exchanging experiences but also a space where new ideas for collaboration and joint initiatives take shape. For Armenia, it is equally important to actively contribute to these discussions by sharing our achievements while learning from the successful experiences of our peers. I am confident that meetings like these contribute to the continued development of both local organizations and the broader regional Internet community,” said Tigran Zargaryan, Board Member of the Internet Society Armenia Chapter.
During the meeting, he presented the progress and achievements of the Digital Library Development and Community Internet Access Centers project, an initiative of the Internet Society Armenia Chapter aimed at expanding digital opportunities for communities through libraries.
Funding opportunities were another major focus of the meeting. Participants explored ways to support Chapter initiatives through the Internet Society Foundation and other potential funding sources, while also sharing experiences from successful grant-funded projects and discussing new models for collaboration.
The meeting also addressed the Internet Society’s 2026 Policy & Advocacy priorities, emphasizing the important role of national Chapters in international efforts to preserve the Internet as an open, secure, and globally connected resource.
The Internet Society Europe Community Calls are held regularly to strengthen cooperation among Chapters, facilitate the exchange of knowledge and best practices and foster coordinated approaches to advancing Internet development across the region.
