The Internet Society Armenia Chapter’s “Digital Skills Development for Vulnerable Groups” project has been featured in the global Internet Society’s June Community Snapshot, which showcases some of the most impactful community initiatives from around the world.
Funded by the Internet Society Foundation, the Armenian project equipped people aged 60 and above with essential digital skills, including safe Internet use, cybersecurity awareness, access to online services, smartphone literacy and the basics of using artificial intelligence tools.
To illustrate the program’s impact, the Internet Society highlighted the story of 83-year-old educator Seda Margaryan, who shared that the training helped her become more confident and independent in using the Internet. The publication also notes that, through similar initiatives, the Internet Society Armenia Chapter has supported more than 150 older adults in strengthening their digital skills.
The June Community Snapshot also highlights a project by the Internet Society Mali Chapter, where 150 girls and young women participated in an online training program on computer network design and deployment. The 60 top-performing participants advanced to the hands-on training phase.
Another featured initiative comes from the Internet Society Mongolia Chapter, which is working to improve Internet connectivity in public schools. Using a Train-the-Trainer model, the first phase of the project trained 30 teachers and six chapter members, who will go on to share their knowledge with colleagues, helping to build sustainable, high-quality Internet infrastructure in schools.
The Internet Society’s June Community Snapshot demonstrates that while the initiatives in Armenia, Mali, and Mongolia address different local needs, they are united by a shared mission: to make the Internet safer, more accessible and more inclusive for everyone.
