October 1 is observed worldwide as the International Day of Older Persons, a day that highlights the importance of addressing the challenges faced by older people and recognizing the need for greater care, inclusion and support.
By joining together to mark this important day, the Internet Society and Internet Society Armenia Chapter reaffirm once again that older people have always been and continue to be at the heart of our work.
Our programs promoting digital literacy and online safety among older people, implemented over the past several years and continuing today, remain an important part of our ongoing efforts.
In an era of rapid technological change, one of the most effective ways to empower older generations and enable them to fully benefit from their knowledge, experience and social potential is to strengthen their digital skills and confidence in using the Internet and smart devices.
Through our initiatives, hundreds of people aged 60 and above have learned to use the Internet, smartphones and online services more independently and safely. They have developed skills to protect their personal data, use digital communication platforms, make online payments and simplify everyday tasks with the help of AI tools.
On this special day, we extend our warmest congratulations to all older people. May they continue to enrich the lives of their families and communities with their wisdom, experience and long lives. May every new technology create another opportunity to connect generations and may the desire to learn, discover and embrace new experiences always remain a valued part of life – regardless of age.
