TLDCON 2024 celebrated the 30th anniversary of the country code top-level domains (ccTLDs) for four participating countries: Armenia (.am), Russia (.ru), Kazakhstan (.kz), and Belarus (.by). Over the past three decades, the managers of these domains have navigated diverse development conditions to expand their respective domains, increase the number of registered domains, and enhance security measures.
“As the manager of the .am and .հայ domains, our organization is committed to ensuring that Armenia’s presence is recognized through these domains,” said Anna Karakhanyan, a Board member of the ‘Internet Society’ NGO, representing Armenia at the TLDCON 2024 international conference.
Currently, there are 146,000 domains registered under .by and .бел. In .kz, there are 189,500 domains, and in .каз, there are 534 domains. As of March this year, the total number of registrations across all five Russian domains has surpassed 6 million. Armenian domains number 45,542, with 958 registered under .հայ.
Despite the significant differences in digital data, the .am and .հայ domains remain competitive in several aspects, including the availability of free domain names, affordability, interest in the national language, quality of technical service, and opportunities. They are on par with high-level global domains in these respects.
